Why did you choose CNU?

CNU was not my first choice. Originally, Virginia Tech was my first choice and CNU was my backup school since my sister went here. I wanted an in-state school that was nice and academically sound. After I got wait-listed at Tech I decided to go to CNU. It has probably been the best thing to happen me.

What was your first impression of CNU?

I thought it was a very active place. Most of the people were extremely outgoing and friendly. The campus was still being heavily constructed but I still thought it was really nice.

What do you think of it now?

Although the campus is still being transformed with construction, the new McMurran Hall has gone up and CNU is getting nicer every year. I have made many friends and am enjoying the extra-curricular activities I am involved in. The people are still very nice.

Where is the one place you would recommend going near CNU?

Subway Station by far. Don’t let the tacky yellow and orange paint fool you, this baby has the tastiest subs for hundreds of miles and a great deal when flashing the CNU ID. Don’t skip the special sauce either.

What was your first impression when you got to CNU?

The campus was so bright, literally and figuratively. The sun constantly shining was a perfect start to my first semester away from home, and everyone at the campus was so friendly. The thing that still sticks out in my mind is that everyone always held the doors for each other. They were so considerate.

What do you think of it now?

I still think the campus is bright, but it also has its dark side. Theres drama like that any school or work place you go to, but thats unavoidable. But the one thing that I really dont adore about CNU is how much the campus floods when it rains, and it rains pretty frequently. However, it is a good excuse to get really cute wellies (rain boots).

Where is the one place you would recommend going near CNU?

Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar. CNU doesnt get the channel VS., and thats the channel that aired the ice hockey playoffs. Im a big Washington Capitals fan, and I HAD to watch the games, so I would drive over to BWs with some friends and watch the games while eating good, messy food. Im definitely going back to BWs a lot for the next three years.

If you could give any advice to upcoming freshman, what would it be?

Dont lock yourself away in your room! If you are shy go outside of your boundaries and make friends with people on your hall. Everyone is just as nervous as you are and everyone is trying to make friends as well. It is not as scary as it seems.

Do you believe in the freshman 15 now?

Freshman 15 is most definitely possible to gain. The first night I walked into the dinning hall and saw that there was ice cream and deserts every day I knew I had to watch what I ate. But, it is also very possible to not gain that weight.

Where is the one place you would recommend going near CNU?

I am very much a beach person and when it got warm my friends took me to Yorktown beach. It is a bit of a drive but it is a very cute little area where you can lay out and be by the water.
