Weekend Events, Life-Size LIFE

Tired of playing ordinary board games?  Come out to the Campus Activity Board’s Life-Size LIFE: CNU Edition this Saturday, Feb. 5. The event will be held in the David Student Union (DSU) at 8 p.m. and will run until 10 p.m. Students who attend this weekend’s CAB event should expect to experience the game of LIFE as they never have before. They will navigate their way through everyday trials that CNU students face, such as choosing a major and a residence hall. As an added incentive, students will be given cookies, pamphlets from CNU offices, and other small prizes along the way during their adventure with the LIFE: CNU Edition game. LIFE tiles will be collected as students make their way around the board and will use those to find out how many raffle tickets they may receive. The raffle prize is $20 in Captain’s Cash.

The Special Events Chair of CAB, [what year is she?] Brittany Lahr, explains how the idea came about.

“The concept was originally that of Life-Size Monopoly, but after discussing the concept with the Center for Career Planning along with a number of other offices here at CNU we decided on the idea of Life. The committee as a whole researched the original board game, as well as sat down and brainstormed our experiences here at CNU.  We compiled a list of our many adventures and experiences and began creating board pieces that represented all of those things,” said Lahr.

Lahr says that they are hoping for around 100 students to participate in the event, but The Facebook event page shows that there is a potential attendance of 200. Susan Patriquin, Freshman, explains why she confirmed, “yes” (I will be attending) to this event.

“My sister and I played Life a ton as kids. I mean, literally all the time. She sent me a text message last week to ask if she could visit this coming week and of course I said yes. Then I found out that CAB was doing Life-Size LIFE and I told her about it and we both got really excited. So we’re going to relive our childhood fun except life sized,” said Patriquin.
