Staff Voice: State Senate elections affect CNU students, and here’s why

Every year, Christopher Newport University seems to open a new building… maybe even every semester. We see the green fences as, yes, annoying inconveniences, but also as a sign of good things to come. We can thank Paul Trible for giving us a campus to be proud of, that much is certain. The students who [...]

Letter to the Editor: Student encourages others to study abroad

Dear Editor, One percent of students enrolled in institutions of higher education in the U.S. study abroad every year. One. What? This is indeed a saddening reality to me as my time studying in Costa Rica last summer was by far the most mind-blowing voyage of self-discovery I have ever experienced. The best part was [...]

While students might not mind adding some extra time to life’s most enjoyable years, parents who are stuck paying for additional [...]

Where We Stand: O Captain, My Captain (Latte): An Ode to Einstein’s

If I had a nickel for everything I love about this school, I would be one rich chica. I truly love our school colors, our proximity to several beaches, our fancy buildings, when a guy holds the door open for you, et cetera, et cetera. But one of my absolute favorite things about CNU is Einstein’s [...]

Students face lines, wait at mailroom

Rosa Lee Harkrader/The Captain's Log

Bookstores are a common structure on college campuses. They allow students, parents and perspective students to see, touch and buy apparel and novelty items to support the school, as well as textbooks and school supplies. When Christopher Newport University took away its physical bookstore students were forced to buy books online, which has caused complications. [...]

Delegate elections: Students experience technical difficulties casting votes

The desire for the government to represent the population is a basic American instinct. At Christopher Newport University, students are no different. Although there is no longer a student government, there is a new student representative body, the Student Assembly. Last school year was the first for this new organization, and this year’s members are [...]
